Welcome to the STEM Class Remote Learning Web Site. Due to the present COVID-19 pandemic, we can't be in our classroom/shop. So, I have set up remote learning activities that will help you, the student continue learning about STEM. Below are the activites that you will be engaging in as well as extra things you may find interesting.
Tuesday-April 14, 2020 ACTIVITY 1
1. Watch the two YouTube videos below; Sticker Shock: Whay are glasses so expensive and The Brookly Startup Brining Eyewear Manufacturing Back to America and answer the following questions.
a. What did you learn that you did not know in either of the two videos.
b. What made you angry?
c. What did you like?
d. What did the guy in the black glasses do before starting the sunglasses company?
e. Where is the company located that makes all the different sunglasses for other companies?
Record your answers in an email to Mr. Smith.
2. Locate a pair of sunglasses and take all the critical measurments. With pencil and paper sketch up a pair of sunglasses of your design. You can use the image below to understand the important dimensions. You can adjust the dimensions to accomodate the size of your face. To convert mm to inches, go to https://www.metric-conversions.org/length/millimeters-to-inches.htm Make a pair out of cardboard or paper, put them on your face and take a picture and email it to Mr. Smith.
3. Go to box.com and open week 12 & 13 folder, then open the contextual math folder and take week 12 contextual math quiz. Pay close attention to the answer example at the top, when completed hit submit.
4. Update your ePortfolio
All asignments due on Friday at 3 pm.
